Eshbach

The 2008 season will be Charlie’s 35th season in professional baseball. His baseball career began in 1974 with the Elmira Pioneers (NY-Penn League). In 1975 he joined the Bristol Red Sox, Boston’s Double-A team in the Eastern League. Having served in the Eastern League since 1975, Eshbach is the longest serving active member of the league. Besides his time with Bristol and Portland, Eshbach served as General Manager of the Reading Phillies and served as Eastern League President for 11 years. In 1988, Charlie served as interim President of Minor League Baseball. Charlie, the Sea Dogs’ first employee, has been with the club since its inception in the fall of 1992. While with the Sea Dogs he has been selected as the Eastern League Executive of the Year in 1994 and 2002. Charlie and his wife Ann-Marie live in Portland and have two sons, Brian and Scott.
